Clara M. Cahill Stewart died Jan. 2. She was 82.
She was born April 1, 1905, to Edward Thomas and Anna
Kuhn Cahill at Kuhn, Klickitat County, a postal address named for her grandfather
who came from the Willamette Valley in 1883 to homestead and build the first
Kuhn School #39.
After seven years on the Alder Ridge homestead, the family
moved to her maternal grandfather's ranch in the #12 District southeast of
Goldendale. After attending #12, she graduated from Goldendale high school.
She later attended Spokane Business College and worked as a legal secretary
in Spokane and Olympia. On retiring, she moved back to Goldendale.
She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
She is survived by three brothers: Jim Cahill, Wenatchee;
Martin Cahill, Goldendale; and Robert Cahill, Goldendale. One niece and four
nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by parents, three brothers
and two sisters.
A memorial mass will be said Saturday, Feb. 6, at 1:30
p.m. in Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Goldendale, with Father Seamus Kerr
officiating. Inurnment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery. Knosher-Erdman Funeral
Home is in charge of arrangements.
