CECILE STRONG FUNERAL WAS HELD AUG. 25
Cecile Strong was born February 26th, 1885 in Sioux City,
Iowa, the daughter of Harriet and Charles McKinley. She passed away at a
nursing home in Hood River on August 30th at the age of 90 years.
On June 26th, 1907, she was united in marriage to Edward
B. Sweet in Vancouver, Washington. To this union were born three daughters
and a son. Mr. Sweet passed away February 4th, 1930 in Washougal, Washington.
Their son passed away at age seven years.
She was married to James Gilbert Strong in Vancouver,
Washington on April 11th, 1936 and they lived in the Washougal area where
they farmed. They moved to Trout Lake Valley in 1948 where they farmed until
his retirement. Mr. Strong passed away February 5th, 1968.
Mrs. Strong was a 50 year member of the Grange.
Surviving are her three daughters, Lola Caryl of Trout
Lake, Washington; Mrs. Harriet Oltmanns of Goldendale, Washington and Mrs.
Beth Story of Theodore, Alabama; a step-son, J.W. Strong of Seattle, Washington;
twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild;
two sisters, Elizabeth McKinley of Trout Lake, Washington, and Harriet Allen
of Vancouver, Washington.
Funeral services were held Monday, August 25th at 2 p.m.
Services were conducted by the Trout Lake Grange in the Trout Lake Cemetery.
Casket bearers were: F.E. Childs, Robert McNeel, John
E. Madison, Dean Dodge, Erwin Sweighoefer and R.C. Lewis.
The family suggests that memorial contributions could
be made in her memory to the Trout Lake Grange Cemetery Fund in care of Mrs.
Lawrence McCuistion.
