CARL TEEL
Carl Martello Teel, a longtime White Salmon area resident,
died June 15, 1995, at his home in White Salmon, at the age of 87.
Mr. Teel was born Feb. 23, 1908, in Little Rock, Ark.,
to Edith (Woodcock) and Charles W. Teel. As a toddler, the family lived in
a sod house in Nebraska. They moved to Prosser when Mr. Teel was 12 and to
Gilmer when he was 15. He married Elener Estes in Vancouver in November
1936.
He was foreman at the shipyards during World War II,
but spent most of his working years as a self-employed logger. He ran the
log dump and was president of the Mt. Adams Loggers' Association for 15 years.
His work was his hobby and he was best at climbing and rigging spar trees.
He was a charter member of the Eagles Lodge.
Mr. Teel is survived by his wife, Elener, White Salmon;
sons Carl I. Teel, Jim Ted and Dennis Ted, all of White Salmon; daughters
Sherry Phillips, Portland, and Judy Kadramas, Creswell, Ore.; 12 grand-children
and 11 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Teal at White Salmon Cemetery
were held Monday, June 19, 1995, at 2 p.m., with Pastor Jim MacCormack
officiating.
Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
