CHARLES O. ATKINS
Charles O. Atkins, 77, a lumberman most of his life,
died April 3 in a Yakima hospital.
Mr. Atkins was born near Rock Creek March 30, 1903, a
son of Winfield and Louisa Atkins. He spent much of his youth near Gooding,
Idaho, before the family moved back to the Goldendale area. In 1935 he moved
to the Blockhouse area.
Surviving are his wife, Ida, of Goldendale; four sons,
Charles Nealin, Goldendale, Max Atkins of Portland, Hugh Atkins of Beavercreek
and Ted Atkins of Mulino; a daughter, Mrs. Loretta Rainwater of Beavercreek;
a brother, Morris Atkins and a sister, Mrs. Pearl Watson, both of Goldendale;
16 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services were April 7 at First Baptist Church, Rev. Herbert
Evans officiating. Burial was in Springcreek Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Paul Schilling, Grover Riley, Edward
Cuff, Dale Thiele, Dan Morrison and Ralph McKinney.
Honorary pallbearers were Harmon Hoggatt, Troy Spencer,
Wilbur Rainer, Pat McEwen and Les Jobe.
