CHARLES SHELDON WRIGHT
Chas. Sheldon Wright was born July 23, 1875 at Battle
Ground, Ind., and died in Portland, Ore., on March 19, 1939, at the age of
63 years, 7 months and 23 days.
He was married to Marguerite Hope Peterie at Birdsong,
Mo., on March 12, 1903. To this union and seven children were born. Two passed
away. He leaves his widow and two sons and three daughters, Chas. Henry Wright,
of Wrangell, Alaska, and Mrs. Chas. E. Brown, Mrs. Clifford Hansen, Mrs.
Ralph Nederhorn and Laddie Alvin Wright, of White Salmon and two grandchildren;
also a brother, Wm. Wright, of Trout Lake, Wash.; and a sister, Mrs. Maude
Langsdon, of Camas, Wash.
He took up a homestead in the Snowden district in 1904
and lived in this community until seven years ago when he had the misfortune
of losing his arm in a mill accident and since that time has resided in Portland,
Ore..
He was well known here by the older settlers, who hold
he and his family in high esteem. He has been a news vendor in Portland for
years where he was often seen and greeted by old friends.
The funeral was held at Gardner's Chapel in White Salmon,
Wednesday, Rev. Reynolds officiating. The remains were laid to rest in the
I.O.O.F. cemetery.
