UNDERWOOD RITES ON FRIDAY AT GARDNER CHAPEL

 

Funeral services for Cornelia Underwood Howell, a resident of Sitka, Alaska for the past ten years, will be held on this Friday, February 5, at the Gardner Funeral Home here.       

Cornelia Underwood Howell died in Sitka at a nursing home in the Alaskan city. She was born at Underwood on June 9, 1880, the daughter of Isabel and Edward Underwood and was one of the last descendants of a famous old chief of the Yakima tribe of which she was a member.       

Her husband Floyd Howell, died many years ago. She is survived by a sister Isabel Bond of Vernonia, Oregon and a number of nieces and nephews, including one niece, Ruth Litton, of Carson. Cornelia Underwood Howell was sister-in-law of the late Maggie Howell of White Salmon. Services will be held Friday at 12:30 at Gardner's Funeral Home here with the Rev. Donald Kaelin officiating. Burial will be at the Underwood Cemetery in the Underwood family plot.

CORNELIA HOWELL SERVICES HELD

 

Funeral services were held in White Salmon Thursday, Feb. 4 for Mrs. Cornelia Underwood Howell, who died in Sitka, Alaska at the age of 90.       

Mrs. Howell was the daughter of Edward and Isabelle Underwood, pioneer family of the Underwood community in Skamania County. She had lived for a number of years at a nursing home in Sitka.       

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Joe (Isabelle) Bond of Vernonia, Oregon, and a number of nieces and nephews, including Ruth Litton of Carson.       

Services were held at Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon with the Rev. Donald Kaelin of the Methodist Church of officiating. Interment followed at the Underwood family plot at Underwood.
