CLARICE VIVIAN SPLAWN
Clarice Vivian Splawn was born January 29th, 1893 in
Floyd County, Virginia. In June of 1894 she came to Klickitat County with
her parents, Crocket and Ann Catherine Castle. She grew up in the Liberty
Bond and Glenwood Country. She worked for the Oregon-Washington Telephone
Company as an operator in Lyle and White Salmon for a while. She was a member
of the Brethern Church and also the Grange.
On July 2, 1930 she was united in marriage to William
F. Splawn. They made their home in Klickitat County until 1955 when they
moved to Seaside, Oregon. She passed away August 26th, 1964 at the age of
71 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, William
F. Splawn of Seaside, a daughter, Mrs. Peggy Moskovita of Everett, Washington,
an adopted son, Orval Splawn of Bingen, Washington and a grandson, David
Griffith of Portland, Oregon. One brother, Garver Castle of Lyle, Washington,
and a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, August 29th,
3 p.m. at the Gardner's Funeral Chapel in White Salmon with the Rev. Mr.
Roger Clevenger officiating. Interment was in the Balch Cemetery at Lyle.

DEATH SUMMONS CLARICE SPLAWN
Funeral rites for Mrs. William F. (Bill) Splawn, 71,
were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29 at Gardners Chapel, White Salmon. The
Rev. Roger L. Clevenger officiated. Burial was at Balch cemetery near Lyle.
Bearers were James Curl, Don Hutchins, Leonard Jercyke,
Kenneth Sorensen, Bill McLeod and Frank Bradford; and (honorary) Charles
E. Barnes, Harold Seelye and Joe Otrodovich.
Clarice Vivian Splawn (nee Castle) was born January 29,
1893 in Floyd County, Virginia and died August 26, 1964 at the University
of Oregon hospital, Portland. She has lived at 316 3rd Ave., Seaside, Ore.
for 30 years.
She is survived by her widower, Wm. F., same address,
Seaside; daughter, Margaret (Peggy) Moskovita, Everett; son, Orvil Bruce
(Mickey) Splawn, Bingen; grandson, David Griffith, Portland, Oregon; and
brother Garver Castle of Lyle.
