BLOWOUT FATAL TO D. SHIGLEY NEAR POMEROY

Funeral Rites At Lyle For 28 Year Resident Of Area

Funeral services were held at the Lyle church Saturday
afternoon for Daniel D. Shigley, who died Wednesday as the result of an
automobile accident Monday near Pomeroy.
Shigley was returning from an elk hunting trip with Roland
Burges when a tire blew out on Shigley's car about ten miles west of Pomeroy.
He was taken to a Pomeroy hospital where he passed away.
He was born July 9, 1902, at Morristown, Minn., and had
been a resident of Lyle for the past 28 years. He was a member of The Dalles
Aerie No. 2126 of F.O.E.
Funeral services were in charge of Smith Calloway of
The Dalles with Rev. Francis Groth, officiating.
Shigley is survived by his widow, Mrs. Beulah Shigley
of Lyle; a son and daughter, Gary and Donna; his mother, Mrs. Julia Griffin
of Portland; four brothers, Lewis and Leslie Shigley, both of Lyle, and Donald
and Arthur Shigley, both of St. Johns, Oregon, and two half brothers, James
and Frederick Griffin, both of Portland.
