At the age of 18, the departed came to the United States, settling at Corning, Missouri. Here she was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. Here she was united with Edward Schmutzer in holy wedlock on November 8, 1893. This union was blessed with four sons.
In 1949 Mrs. Schmutzer moved with her family to Nebraska, and in the fall of 1926 to Oregon City. Since 1935 she has made her home in the state of Washington, first at Trout Lake. Later in Lyle. Since 1944 she had been at the Lakeview Nursing Home at North Boneville. During these last years Mrs. Schmutzer was bedfast much of the time.      Survivors include four sons: Herman, of Klickitat; Carl, of El Monte, California; Harvey, of Whittier, California, and Otis, of Whittier, California; nine grandchildren, and one great-grand child; one brother at Verdon, Nebraska. The husband passed away sixteen years ago.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 11th, at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church at Klickitat. Burial was made at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in White Salmon.
