SUICIDE NOTE LEFT SATURDAY

     The sheriff's office reported the suicide of Mrs. Francis Dorothy Carey on Saturday. She was born at Clinton, Missouri on February 5, 1916.
     The Washington State Patrol and Dep. R.W. Simpson investigated, were called at 9 a.m. They reported that Mrs. Carey had parked her car south of the A. Goree ranch. They found that she had shot herself with a 22 revolver. Two shots had been fired, one may have been fired to see if the gun worked. She left a suicide note, Dept. Simpson stated. She had gotten out of her car, walked over to the fence, sat down, but the muzzle in her mouth. The bullet had gone up past her right eye, a piece had come out near the left ear.
     She is survived by her husband, Doug P. Carey, two sons, James D. in the U.S. Army, Germany; William A., residing at home and a daughter, Mrs. Marjorie L. Carey in California; a sister Delf Abel in Portland and her father, Wm. F. Mohe residing in California. Her body was taken to Gardner's Funeral home.
     Mr. Carey had reported her missing, also a gun missing. She was reported to have been suffering from cancer. Mrs. Curt Stebbins found the deceased car. Moz Burles acted as coroner.

DOROTHY FRANCES CAREY

     Dorothy Frances Carey was born Feb. 5, 1916 in Clinton, Missouri, the daughter of Christena and William F. Mohr. She passed away July 14, 1966 at White Salmon.
     Surviving are her husband, Douglas P. Carey of White Salmon; two sons, James D. and William R. Carey; one daughter, Mrs. Margery L. Carey, living in California; one sister Mrs. Delf Abel of Portland, Ore.; her father, William F. Mohr of California.
     Funeral services were held Friday, July 22, at 11 a.m. at Gardner's Funeral Home with Pastor William S. Jensen officiating. Interment was in Goodwill cemetery, White Salmon.
     Casket bearers were Harold Hofstedt, Curtis Stebbins, Larry Fields, Harvey Mansfield, Bernard Kapp and Ray Gloco.

FRANCES CAREY IS FOUND DEAD ON MOUNTAIN

     Mrs. Douglas (Frances) Carey who had been reported missing Friday evening was found Saturday morning at about 8 o'clock on Burdoin Mountain about ½ mile east of the turnoff to the Art Goree place the victim of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Death had apparently been between 5 and 8 p.m. according to Moz Burles, deputy county coroner.
     Mrs. Carey left a note stating she was unable to continue bearing the pain of her affliction so was taking this means to end it.
     Although a search had been made in that general area, she was discovered by accident by Mrs. Curt Stebbins while returning the little Clark girl to her home. Recognizing the car, she called her husband from the Clark's who notified the State Patrol and Sheriff's office. Tony Mosbrucker, Stebbins and Burles then went out and found the body about 25 feet from the car in a little glade. Patrolman Dick Carr and Deputy Sheriff Simpson also assisted in the investigation.
     Mrs. Carey had been caring for Mrs. Minnie Johnson during the evenings.
     Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at the Gardner Funeral Chapel with Pastor William S. Jensen officiating.
