DAVID DURHAM
David Frank Durham died on Dec. 7, 2000, in White Salmon,
at the age of 88.
Mr. Durham was born on June 28, 1912, in Colfax, to John
Bert and Maude (Rotan) Durham. On Oct. 8, 1935, he married Gladys Henderson
in Centralia. After moving to a number of towns in Washington, the couple
settled in their home on Bald Mountain in 1947.
Mr. Durham worked in a Tacoma shipyard during World War
II. In 1955, he began working as a logger for SDS Lumber Company, eventually
retiring from the company. He loved hunting, fishing, mushrooming and playing
the fiddle. He was loved and respected by many.
Mr. Durham is survived by his wife Gladys: daughters
Betty Carter, Olympia, and Mane Moser, Carson; sons Bob, White Salmon, and
Jim, Olympia; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and eight great,
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Ruth and Alice,
brothers Billy and Leo, daughter Evelyn Keys, and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services for Mr. Durham were held Saturday, Dec.
9, 2000, at 10 a.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon, with Don Gray and
BPOE Elks officers officiating. Interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home of
White Salmon.
