DELLA M. HEWITT

     Della M. Hewitt, a longtime resident of the Appleton/Lyle area died Oct. 19 in White Salmon, at the age of 89.
     Mrs. Hewitt was born March 22, 1896, in St. Francis, Kan., to Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Gilbert. She came to Washington in 1926 and spent most of her life here.
     She is survived by her children, Eda Hewitt, Seattle, Laura Mae Lane, The Dalles, Vera Roberts, Rufus, Ore., Walter Hewitt, Lyle, and Herbert Hewitt, The Dalles; 18 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence, and one son, Howard.
     Funeral services were held Wednesday at Gardner Funeral home in White Salmon, with Rev. Les Haarstad officiating. Interment was in Balch Cemetery.
