DOROTHY YOUNG

     Dorothy May Young, a White Salmon native, died on Feb. 11, 1997, at the age of 78.
     Mrs. Young was born on Feb. 20, 1918, in White Salmon, to Leila Stockton and Walter Isaac Talbert. She was raised here and married William C. Young Sr. on June 2, 1935 in a double ceremony with Mr. Young's sister. The couple made their home in White Salmon, except for brief periods when his job took them out of the area and even out of the country.
     She was a member of United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens. She loved gardening, flowers, sewing and canning. She also loved to play bingo and she and her husband loved to dance.
     Mrs. Young is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Wood, White Bird, Idaho, Gloria Hartman, Stevenson, Darlene Dick, Tigard, Ore., and Leora Osborne, Aloha, Ore.; sisters Lois Barger, Myrtle Creek, Ore., Elaine Snyder, Seattle, and Janice Spring, White Salmon; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grand-children.
     She was preceded in death by son William Jr., husband William Sr., sister Blanche Sager, and brother Earl "Rocky" Talbert.
     Services for Mrs. Young were held Feb. 15, 1997, at 1 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in White Salmon, with Rev. Willem Romeijn officiating. Interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
     Memorials made be given to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of Gardner Funeral Home, who was in charge of the arrangements.

     Dorothy May Young, 78, of White Salmon, passed away Feb. 11, 1997.
     She was born Feb. 20, 1918 to Leila (Stockton) and Walter Issac Talbert in White Salmon, where she spent most of her life. Dorothy married William C. Young Sr. in 1935, in a double ceremony with William's sister. They made their home in White Salmon, except for brief periods when his job took them out of the area and even out of the country.
     Dorothy was a member of the United Methodist Church and Senior Citizens. She loved gardening, flowers, sewing, canning and playing Bingo. Dorothy and her husband loved to dance.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, William; one son, William Jr.; one sister, Blanche Sager, and one brother, Earl "Rocky" Talbert.
     Survivors include four daughters, Carol Wood of White Bird, Idaho, Gloria Hartman of Stevenson, Darlene Dick of Tigard, Ore., and Leora Osborne of Ahola, Ore.; three sisters, Lois Barger of Myrtle Creek, Ore., Elaine Snyder of Seattle, and Janice Spring of White Salmon, 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
     Funeral services were held Feb. 15 at the United Methodist Church in White Salmon. Interment was at the White Salmon Cemetery. Contributions may be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or Multiple Sclerosis Society c/o Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon. Arrangements were in the care of Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon.
