Klickitat Merchant's Funeral Held in White Salmon Sunday
Funeral services for the late Dewey Thomas, business
manager of Klickitat and a former White Salmon resident, who died at his
home in Klickitat on September 23, were held at the Congregational church
in White Salmon last Sunday afternoon, Rev. J.W. Reynolds having charge of
the services. Soloist was Mrs. Roy Cain. The remains were laid to rest at
the Odd Fellows cemetery with the local Masonic lodge held graveside service.
Dewey Thomas was born in White Salmon May 14, 1809(sic)
and passed away at the age of 30 years. He married Evelyn Briggs in 1935.
For a number of years he lived in Bickleton where he had charge of a general
merchandise, and also lived in Elton, Oregon, where he became a member of
the Elton Masonic No. 63. The past few years he was in business in Klickitat
where he owned a Red & White store.
He is survived by his widow, two daughters, Patsy and
May, of Klickitat; his mother, Alice Thomas of White Salmon; six sisters
-- Mrs. Stella McFarland, of Kelso, Wash.; Mrs. Veda Hall, of Forest Grove,
Ore.; Mrs. Rachael Carlson, of Forest Grove, Ore.; Mrs. Trixie Barker, of
San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Walt Cashdollar, and Mrs. Georgia Gearin, both of
Seattle. Also two brothers -- Rhad Thomas, of Elton, Ore., and Artie Thomas
of Oregon City.
