DOROTHY R. BRASHERS
Dorothy Ruth Brashers of Lyle died Monday, February 28,
1994; she was 84.
She was born October 28, 1909 in Hood River to Lillie
(Powell) and Lincoln Murphy. Mrs. Brashers grew up in and around the Hood
River Valley and graduated from Hood River High School. On May 21, 1929 she
married William Henry Brashers in Goldendale.
In 1932 the couple settled in this area. Eleven years
later the couple moved to High Prairie where they farmed until retiring in
1975.
Soon after retirement the couple moved to Lyle and lived
there when they weren't busy traveling.
Mrs. Brashers was a member of the Gateway Presbyterian
Church in The Dalles, the Lyle Grange, the Good Sam Club and the Lyle Federated
Women's Club. Her favorite activities were gardening and traveling.
She was preceded in death by one son, Thomas, who died
in October 1988.
She is survived by her husband William of Lyle; her sons
Don of Lyle, Delbert of Dallesport, and James of Lyle. At the time of her
death she had 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, at 2:30
at the Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon. Dr. Jim Hazlett will officiate
the service.
The family suggests donations in Mrs. Brashers' name
be given to the Lyle Lions Club or the Lyle Fire Department.
The Gardner Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.

Dorothy Ruth Brashears, 84, of Lyle died February 28,
1994 at The Dalles, Ore.
She was born October 28, 1909 in Hood River, Ore. to
Lincoln and Lillie (Powell) Murphy. She and graduated from Hood River High
School.
She married William Henry Brashears in Goldendale on
May 21, 1929. The settled in the area in 1932, moving to High Prairie in
1943 where they farmed until retiring in 1975. They moved to Lyle and lived
there when they weren't traveling.
Mrs. Brashers was a member of Gateway Presbyterian Church
in The Dalles, the Lyle Grange, Good Sam Club and Lyle Federated Women's
Club. She loved to garden and travel.
Survivors include her husband William Brashears of Lyle;
three sons, W. Don Brashears , James D. Brashears , both of Lyle, and Delbert
W. Brashears of Dallesport; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren also
survive.
Preceding her in death was a son, Thomas Brashears, in
October, 1988.
Contributions may be given to Lyle Lions Club or the
Lyle Fire Department.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4, at 2:30
p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon with Dr. Jim Hazlett
officiating. Burial will be at the Lyle Balch Cemetery in Lyle.
