HOCTOR
Donald R. Hoctor, born April 24, 1925, in Goldendale
to Joseph and Amelia Hoctor and their elder son, died November 27.
Following his graduation from Goldendale High School,
he served during World War II aboard the USS Bunker Hill. In 1947, he began
farming east of Goldendale.
Mr. Hoctor, wed in 1949 to Nellie Johnson, was an active
member of the American Legion, where he was a past commander; of the Knights
of Columbus, where he was past Grand Knight; of the 40 at 8, where he was
chef du Gare; and of the Elks Lodge in The Dalles. He also served on the
board of directors for the Central Klickitat Soil Conservation District,
and was a lifelong member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Nellie, at the family home;
by two daughters; Cynthia Hoctor of Poway, California and Kathy Muhly of
Goldendale; by his mother, Amelia Hoctor, and a brother, Wayne Hoctor, both
of Goldendale; and by six grandchildren: Matthew, Jason and Joseph Enyeart
of Poway, and Fred, Mike and Katie Muhly of Goldendale. He was preceded in
death by his father, Joseph Hoctor, in 1968.
Rosary services were to be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday,
Nov. 30, and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today
(Thursday, Dec. 1) by Frs. Seamus Kerr and Martin Skeehan, both services
at Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
Directed by Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home, military graveside
services will follow at the Catholic cemetery under the auspices of Louis
Leidl Post 116, American Legion.
Active pallbearers will be Dan Hoctor, Scott Johnson,
Steven Johnson, Ted Johnson, Mike Johnson, and Ronald Spierkerman. Honorary
pallbearers are all members of the Knights of Columbus.
