DONALD MCCOY
Donald R. McCoy, a lifelong Gorge resident, died Friday,
May 26, 2000, in Hood River. Ore., at the age of 93.
Mr. McCoy was born Sept. 2, 1906, in The Dalles. Ore.,
to Dennis R. and Myrtle (Markham) McCoy. He moved to High Prairie in 1910,
where he was raised on a wheat ranch. He attended schools in Hartland and
Lyle. He met Gertrude Vause in Klickitat and they were married on Jan. 11,
1941. He worked as a log truck driver and retired in 1972.
Mr. McCoy loved salmon and steelhead fishing, hunting,
gardening and playing cards.
Mr. McCoy is survived by his wife Gertrude, White Salmon:
son Arthur McCoy, Eugene. Ore.; sister-in-law Frances Honeycutt, Seattle:
two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. McCoy will be held Friday,
June 2, 2000, at 1:30 pm. at the White Salmon Cemetery, with Frank Butler
officiating.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home of
White Salmon.
