DEROWLAND WARD

     Funeral services for DeRowland Ward of Glenwood who died Sunday will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pioneer Memorial Community Church. He was 73.
     Committal will follow at Mt Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
     Mr. Ward was born June 9, 1919 in Mabton to Florence (Smith) and Stephen Ward. He moved to Glenwood in 1930 and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1938. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
     He came back to Glenwood after his discharge. He married Lela Wallenbrock in White Salmon in 1946. He worked as a mechanic for Jay Neils Logging and then for St. Regis until retirement in 1982.
     He was a life member of Mt. Adams BPOE 1868, 50-year member of local 2805, volunteer fireman for many years. He enjoyed gardening, reading and his family.
     He is survived by his wife, Lela of Glenwood; children, Dennis and Teresa Ward of Glenwood; sisters, Edith Buchanan of Boise, Idaho, Rachel Babcock of Portland and Minnie Allen of Garden Grove, Calif.; grandchildren, Christopher Ward of Glenwood and Danielle Ward of Glenwood.
     Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

DEROWLAND

     Ward DeRowland, 73, of Glenwood, died March 28, 1993 at Portland, Ore.
     Mr. Ward was born June 9, 1919 in Mabton to Stephen and Florence (Smith) Ward. He moved to Glenwood in 1930 and graduated from Glenwood High School in 1939. He was one of 13 children; his mother died when he was eight years old.
     Mr. Ward served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. After his discharge he married Lela Wallenbrock in White Salmon on January 5, 1946. He worked as a mechanic for Jay Neils Logging and St. Regis until retirement in 1982.
     Ward was a member of Mt. Adams BPOE No. 1868, a fifty year member of Local 2805, and a volunteer fireman for many years. He loved to garden and read. His family was the most important thing in his life.
     Survivors include his wife, Lela of Glenwood; two sons, Dennis and Teresa Ward, and Dale Ward, all of Glenwood; three sisters, Edith Buchanan of Boise, Idaho, Rachel Babcock of Portland, Ore., and Minnie Allen of Garden Grove, Calif.; two grandchildren, Christopher Ward and Danielle Ward of Glenwood.
     Funeral services are Thursday, April 1, 1993 at 11 a.m. at the Pioneer Memorial Community Church in Glenwood with Rev. Gary Wilderbuer officiating.
     Mr. Ward will be laid to rest at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood with Gardner Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
     Memorial contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation or charity of choice.
