PIONEER WOMAN OF GLENWOOD PASSES AWAY
Mrs. Della Cole Bertschi died at her home in Glenwood
Monday of this week at the age of 62 years. She came to the Camas Prairie
from the Willamette valley with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.K. Cole in 1878,
and was married to Albert Bertschi, Sr., in 1871 when they moved to his ranch
in the Panakanic district, and where they lived until they moved near Glenwood.
Mrs. Bertschi was highly respected and had taken a most
prominent part in the community life of the Camas Prairie. She had always
taken an active part in the up-building of that section, and was one of the
best known pioneer women on this section.
She leaves a husband, three daughters, and three sons
to mourn her loss -- Albert, Issac and Dave Bertschi of Glenwood; Mrs. Tressie
Feller of Glenwood; Mrs. Ada Gardner of San Jose, Calif.; and Mabel of
California. Also three brothers, I.N. Cole of Glenwood, B.B. Cole of La Center,
and W.B. Cole of Springfield, Ore.
The funeral was yesterday at Glenwood, and was largely
attended.
We are sorry to announce the sudden death of Mrs. Albert Bertschi. She passed away at 3 o'clock Tuesday morning.

The sad funeral of Mrs. Della Bertschi was held Thursday afternoon, and the remains were laid to rest in the Mt. Adams cemetery. She leaves a host of friends, as well as relatives, to mourn her loss, for she always had a pleasant smile and a kind word for everyone. Sister Bertschi also belonged to the Glenwood Grange and was an active member of the Pioneer's Association. Friends came from everywhere to be present at the funeral.
