DORIS MURPHY
Doris Viola Murphy, a Glenwood native, died Oct. 7, 1996,
in Hood River, Ore., at the age of 74.
Mrs. Murphy was born April 22, 1922, in Glenwood, to
Minnie (Schultz) and Edwin Huffsmith. She grew up in the Glenwood area, marrying
Charles Criss at age 18. They subsequently moved to White Salmon, where they
lived for about 12 years. They divorced and she married Kenneth Murphy and
moved to Hood River in 1968 and has lived there since.
She was a Jehovah's Witness. She enjoyed rock-hounding, camping,
boating, fishing and crocheting.
Mrs. Murphy is survived by her husband, Kenneth Murphy,
Hood River; son Don Criss, White Salmon; daughters, Shirley Sawyer, Ridgefield,
and Marilyn Rasmussen, Pendleton, Ore.; stepsons Dick Murphy, Las Vegas,
Nev., Kenneth Murphy Jr., Pendleton, Ore.; and Ron Murphy, Colorado; brother
Bert Huffsmith, Husum; sisters Eva Fellers, Glenwood, and Emma Keel, Glenwood;
four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Services for Mrs. Murphy will be held Oct. 12, 1996,
at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Mr. Dave Thomas
officiating. Interment will be at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home in
White Salmon.

The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct.
12, at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, Wash. Dave Thomas will officiate.
Committal will be at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood, Wash.
