EDITH BENNETT
Edith Ann Bennett, a resident of Murdock, died at her
home on Friday, March 10, 2000, at the age of 65.
Mrs. Bennett was born Aug. 13, 1934, in Tulsa, Okla.,
the oldest of four children to Peoleman Glenn and Edith Kate (Polk) Hildebrand.
In 1952, she graduated from Union College High School in Lincoln, Neb., then
moved to California to attend college.
She married Ernest Norman Bennett on May 30, 1955, in
Castro Valley, Calif.. They lived in the San Francisco Bay area until moving
to Dallesport 10 years ago.
In California, Mrs. Bennett worked for 15 years for St.
Helena Hospital and Health Center and after moving to Dallesport, worked
as a secretary for Port of The Dalles, until her retirement in 1996.
She was a member of Gateway Presbyterian Church and enjoyed
watercolor painting and flower gardening, especially roses.
She is survived by her husband Norman Bennett, Murdock;
children Pamela Garcia, Fremont, Calif., Carol Bennett, St. Helena, Calif.,
and Bruce Bennett, Murdock; mother Edith K. Hildebrand, Lyle; sisters Virginia
Cooper, Palm Springs, Calif., and Joyce Currier, Lyle; brother Eric Hildebrand,
Phoenix, Ariz.; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on March 13, 2000,
at Spencer, Libby and Powell Funeral Home in The Dalles. Private interment
was held at Lyle Balch Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Gorge.
