DEATH TAKES ERWIN SAUTER
Mr. Erwin Sauter, Lyle, age 73, passed away at 5:30 Wednesday
afternoon at Skyline. He had been admitted April 1. He was born on June 12,
1891 in Minnesota. He is survived by his wife Nellie of Lyle and four sons,
among them T.W. Sauter, Erwin Sauter and Franklin.
A complete obituary will be printed next week. Arrangements
have not been completed by 8 p.m. Wednesday evening.

LAST RITES FOR ERWIN SAUTER
Last rites for Erwin A. Sauter, 73, of Lyle, were held
at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at Columbia Grange Hall, Lyle. Gardners Funeral
Service was in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Everett Richey officiated.
Burial was in Balch cemetery.
Bearers were: Ray Hess, James Curl, Ernest Struck, Wm.
Bashers, Lloyd McNabb and Frank Hewett.
Erwin Sauter, son of Catherine and Frank Sauter was born
June 12, 1891 at St. Cloud, Minnesota. they moved to Portland, Oregon when
he was five months old; and to The Dalles, Ore. when he was four years old.
On October 3, 1916, he and Nellie A. Evans were married
at The Dalles. Two years later they moved to Lyle where they established
Rockview Farm. Here between the Columbia Bluffs and the river the Sauters
developed a unique family business; commercial salmon fishing and raising
poultry.
Mr. Sauter died Wednesday, April 7, at Skyline Hospital,
White Salmon.
He is survived by his widow, Nellie; four sons, Erwin
A. of Moscow, Idaho. Franklin M. of Seattle, Richard R. and Theodore W. both
of Lyle; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth Sorensen (Nellie) of Lyle and Mrs. LeRoy
Ramm (Mary) of Mt. Hood, Ore. Also two brothers, Franklin C. of The Dalles
and William O. of Prineville, Ore.; three sisters, Mrs. L.H. Dean (Martha)
of Klamath Falls, Ore.; Mrs. Lena Howard of Yakima; and Mrs. J. W. Allie
(Bertha) of Chehalis; and 21 grandchildren.
