SERVICES HELD FOR EDITH SORENSEN; BURIAL AT LYLE
Edith Anna Sorensen, who was born June 23, 1882 at Portland,
Ore., died December 19, at Skyline Hospital after a three year illness.
Mrs. Sorensen had been a resident of Lyle for the past
7 years. Her husband preceded her in death in April of 1953. They were married
at High Prairie on June 22, 1903.
She is survived by four sons and three daughters: Harold
of Lyle; Kenneth of Lyle, Vernon of Friend, Oregon; Glen of Salem, Oregon;
Mrs. Eunice Omeg of Yakima; Mrs. Mildred Cooksley of Portland; and Mrs. Elna
Humke of Portland. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren and 18 great
grandchildren.
She was a member of Columbia Grange 87 of Lyle and belonged
to the Lyle Methodist Church.
Services were held on Wednesday afternoon, December 22,
at Gardner's Chapel at 1 o'clock.
Interment was at the Balch Cemetery at Lyle with Rev.
Everett M. Richey, officiating.

DEATH SUMMONS MRS. SORENSEN
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec.
22 at Gardner's Chapel, White Salmon, for Mrs. Edith Anna Sorensen, 83, resident
of Lyle for 70 years.
The Rev. Everett M. Richey officiated. Burial was in
Balch Cemetery, Lyle.
Bearers were: (active) Larry Sorensen, Elton Sorensen,
Ronald Sorensen, Delmar Sabford, Darrell Cooksley, Donald Brashers; (honorary)
Wilbur Johnson, Stanley Hylton, Sidney Johnson and Lotus Ewing.
Mrs. Sorensen was born in Portland, Oregon on June 23,
1882 and was married to the late Van Sorensen on June 22, 1903 at High Prairie.
He died April of 1953.
Mrs. Sorensen, a former Lyle correspondent of the Mt.
Adams Sun, died Sunday, Dec. 19 t Skyline Hospital where she had been a patient
for 26½ months.
She is survived by her sons Harold and Kenneth of Lyle,
Vernon of Friend, Ore., and Glen of Salem, Ore.; daughters, Eunice Omeg of
Yakima, Mildred Cooksley and Elma Humke, both of Portland, Ore.; 22 grandchildren
and 18 great grandchildren.
She was a member of Columbia Grange 87, Lyle and the
Lyle Methodist Church.
