EDWARD A. WICKMAN
Edward A. Wickman, 83, a resident of Lyle, died at the
local hospital on March 13, 1998.
He was born Dec. 14, 1914 in Walker, Minn., to Herman
and Julia (Swolboski) Wickman and moved with his family from Cass Lake to
Klickitat at age 11.
Following his graduation from Klickitat High School he
began to work in the timber industry and then followed his father's footsteps
as a lumber grader at the sawmill in Klickitat, from age 18 until retirement
at age 67.
He married the former Marilyn F. Kress on June 30, 1937
in Vancouver.
Ed was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, Missouri
Synod, and was a member of Grace Lutheran in Klickitat. He was also a member
of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners, Local 2805. Following
his retirement he continued his hobbies of collecting rocks and antique glass
bottles as a family activity.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn of the family home,
and sons Richard, Oaxaca, Mexico; Michael, Lakeview; and Robert, Klickitat;
a brother, Marcus, Grants Pass, and sisters, Martha McEwen, Long Beach, Wash.;
and Margaret Malmgren, Portland; his grandchildren and ten great
grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at Grace Lutheran Church
in Klickitat on Saturday, March 28, at 11:30 a.m. Pastor Keith Wellman will
preside.
Cremation arrangements were by Smith Callaway Chapel.
