FUNERAL SERVICES FOR BATES HUNTER TO BE HELD FRIDAY
Funeral services for Edward Bates Hunter, 83, will be
held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from the Phillips Funeral Home in Goldendale.
Mr. Hunter passed away at his home in Pine Forest Monday evening following
his return from the St. Elizabeth's hospital in Yakima, where he had been
for the past week.
Mr. Hunter is a well known Klickitat pioneer, having
come to Goldendale in 1884, and has since made his home on his farm in the
Pine Forest section. He was born in Pike county, Illinois. In December, 1887,
he was united in marriage to Emma J. Bullack and to this union four children
were born. One son, Elmer, preceded him in death.
Besides hi wife, three children survive, Alfred, of Sheridan,
Ore.; R.E Goldendale, and Mrs. Edith Horn, of Wishram There are seven
grandchildren.
Rev P. Glenn Garner, of the local Baptist church will
officiate at the services. Interment will be in the Spring Creek cemetery.

EDWARD BATES HUNTER
Edward Bates hunter, son of Adam and Rebecca Hunter,
was born February 25, 1860 in Pike county, Illinois, where he grew to manhood.
He came to Goldendale, Washington in 1884 and was married December 1, 1887
to Emma Jane Bullack of Spring Creek where they have since resided. He passed
away Monday, May 24, 1943 at the age of 83 years, on the old homestead where
they lived continuously for 50 years, and celebrated their fifty-fifth wedding
anniversary there December 1, 1942.
To this union four children were born. One son, Elmer
J. preceded him in death July 22, 1931.
Surviving are his wife, Emma J., and three children:
Ralph E. Hunter of Goldendale, Mrs. Edith Horne of Wishram, and Alfred B.
Hunter of Sheridan, Ore., now serving in the Navy and temporarily stationed
at A and M college in Texas. There are also seven grand-children: Bates Coffield
in the Marine Corps somewhere in the South Pacific, Rose Emma Coffield of
Portland, Oregon, Keith Hunter, Sheridan, Ore. in the Navy is attending radio
school at Treasure Island, Betty Ruth Hunter, Sheridan, Ore., and Irvin,
Peggy and Lavona Hunter of Goldendale.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 28 from the Phillips
Funeral Home with Rev. P. Glenn Garner of the Baptist Church officiating.
Interment was in the Spring Creek cemetery.
