ERMA LIBBEY
Erma Libbey, born July 4, 1924, to Carl and Maude Pearson
of Trout Lake, died on March 30, 2004, in Tacoma.
In addition to nurturing her own family, she always found
time to provide quiet support and assistance to others in the communities

she devoted a major portion of her time to church related activities. These
included extensive involvement in an area-wide church-sponsored program of
supplying clothing and shoes for disadvantaged youth. She also participated
in the operation of a church-sponsored thrift shop, the proceeds of which
were used to support additional community outreach programs.
Mrs. Libbey was preceded in death by her husband Dr.
Howard Libbey and son Charles.
She is survived by children Roberta Darby and Mary Lou
Ward, both of Anchorage, Alaska, Susan Green-Hite, Milwaukie, Ore., David
Libbey, Scappose, Ore., and Douglas Libbey, Lake Tapps (Sumner); brother
Robert Pearson, Milwaukie, Ore.; and sister Carole Pedersen, Tacoma.
In addition, she was a loving grandmother and
great-grandmother to later generations.
A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on
Friday, April 2, 2004, at the Life Center, her Tacoma church home.
