     Mrs. Elizabeth J. Brown, wife of A.J. Brown, of Horseshoe Bend, died Friday last, the funeral being held at the family residence on Sunday, May 22nd, Elder J.E. Adams conducting the services. The deceased was married in 1857 to Mr. A.J. Brown, of Iowa. In 1877 they moved to Klickitat, Mr. Brown being the founder of the town of Centerville and its first postmaster. About 19 years ago they located in the Horseshoe Bend section, where they had resided continuously since. There was born to them eight children, four of whom are now living. Those present were Harley Brown of the Kennewick, Mabel Cheers of Lind, and Dudley Smith, a son-in-law. No one is better entitled to honorable mention than the deceased, who had faced the hardships of pioneer days. In life she was an esteemed woman, and her death is mourned by a host of friends to whom her taking away was a distinct shock. The interment took place at the little cemetery near Centerville.
