ELWOOD WILLIAMS
Elwood Williams, a longtime Glenwood resident, died in
Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham on Jan. 6, 1998, at the age of 80.
Mr. Williams was born on March 11, 1917, in Springfield,
Ohio, to Alice and Milton Williams. He was the youngest of seven sons and
three sisters.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the
4th Armored Division and the 988th Treadway Bridge Co. He was awarded the
Bronze Star for bravery in combat. After the war, he made his home in Glenwood
with his wife Ruby, until her death in 1979.
Mr. Williams retired from the Klickitat County Road
Department, as a grader operator in the Glenwood area.
He is survived by his wife Ruthie, Portland; son, Richard,
Glenwood; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and three
sisters.
A memorial service for Mr. Williams was held in Glenwood
at the Baptist Church on Jan. 17. Cremation preceded the services.

passed away Jan. 8, 1998 at the Mt. Hood Medical Center in Gresham, Ore.
He was born March 11, 1917, the youngest of seven sons
and three daughters, in Springfield, Ohio to Milton and Alice Williams.
During World War II, Elwood served in the U.S. Army 4th
Armored Division and the 988th Treadway Bridge Company. He was awarded the
Bronze Star for bravery in combat. After the war, Elwood and his wife, Ruby,
made their home in Glenwood until her death in 1979. He retired from the
Klickitat County Road Dept. as a grader operator.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthie of Portland,
Ore.; one son, Richard, of Glenwood; grandchildren; great-grandchildren;
nieces; nephews; and three sisters.
Cremation preceded the Memorial Services held Jan. 17
at the Glenwood Baptist Church.
