EILEEN C. BOARDSEN

     Eileen C. Boardsen, 84, of Goldendale, died May 25, 2001 in Yakima. She was born on July 24, 1916 in Burbank, S.D. Eileen attended schools in South Dakota where she received her teaching certificate. She taught school in South Dakota and worked as a governess in San Diego for a time.
     She and Oscar Boardsen were married on October 12, 1940 in Vermillion, S.D. The couple farmed in South Dakota and her husband later became employed on the dam building projects throughout the north-west.
     Eileen was a homemaker and enjoyed doing embroidery, baking and going fishing. She collected dolls and loved giving people presents.
     After retirement in 1978 they lived in Bridgeport for a time, later moving to Union Gap, Libby, Montana, and returning to Goldendale in 1992.
     Following her husband's death, Eileen lived with her daughter, Mary Jo and family in Yakima.
     Her husband, Oscar, preceded her in death in January of this year. She is survived by four daughters, Jeanne Johnson and husband Gordon of Goldendale, Mary Jo Hopperstad and Julie Boardsen Smith of Yakima and Gloria Boardsen Riches and husband Phil of Vancouver. Six grandchildren, Scott Bateman, Steve Bateman, Oscar Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Michael Smith and Lyn Hopperstad-Herrera. Two sisters, Helen Collins of Royal City and Dorothy Wensel of Burbank S.D.; a sister in law, Emma Elliot and two brothers in law, Veryl Clifford and Kenneth Beach.
     Mass of Christian Burial was said June 1 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas V. Lane officiating. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.

     GOLDENDALE -- Eileen C. Boardsen, 84, of Goldendale, died on Friday May 25 in Yakima. She was born on July 24, 1916 in Burbank, SD.      Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas V. Lane officiating. Rosary services will be Thursday evening at 7 PM at the Church. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
