EDDIS NEILSON
Eddis Neilson, a longtime White Salmon resident, died
Aug. 29, 2000, in White Salmon, at the age of 74.
Mrs. Neilson was born June 28, 1926, in Taber, Alberta,
Canada, to Heber and Thursa (Layton) Russell.She grew up in Canada. She met
Harry S. Neilson and the two were married on Oct. 4, 1946, in Stevenson.
They settled in the White Salmon area and Mrs. Neilson worked as a fruit
packer for Underwood Fruit, as a telephone operator, and also helped her
husband operate the Standard Oil business in Bingen.
Mrs. Neilson was a dedicated volunteer, working with
the Lifeline Unit at Skyline Hospital and on the election board. She was
a member of the LDS Church. She was also a devoted grandmother. One of her
favorite pastimes was attending youth athletic events. She was also an avid
Blazer fan. She is survived by daughters Geri Smith, Trout Lake, Jackie Lewis,
Walla Walla, and Kathy Baker, Portland, Ore., brothers Orvin Russell, Murray,
Utah, and Keith Russell, Cardston, Alberta; sisters Jeana Stanford, Cardston,
Alberta, Carla Grover, Wrentham, Alberta, and Delva Priest, Surrey, British
Columbia; and 14 grand-children and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by her husband, who died on Feb. 15, 1993.
Services for Mrs. Neilson held Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000,
at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in White Salmon,
with Bishop Jerry Lewis officiating.
Vault interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation in
care of Gardner Funeral Home, who was in charge of arrangements.
