FINAL RITES HELD FOR MRS. AUSTIN
Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 24, at Gardner's
funeral home for Mrs. Emma Ellen Austin, 69, resident of White Salmon since
1937.
The Rev. Roger L. Clevenger of the Bethel Congregational
church officiated. Burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Pall bearers were
Leonard and Ray Yarnell, Veryl and Dick Chamberlain, Cecil Jaksha and Archie
Fritchie.
Mrs. Austin was born April 15, 1888 at Lyle. Her husband,
Russell, died in 1945. She died on Wednesday, June 19 at the home of her
daughter Neva, Mrs. Alonzo Yarnell, two miles north of White Salmon out Snowden
way.
Survivors include two other daughters; Berniece Youngren
of Beulah, Colorado and Virginia Birney of Sublette, Kansas; sons, Montie
Austin of Oaksdae and Laurence of Lyle: sisters, Mrs. Minnie Martin of Palacios,
Texas and Mrs. Nettie McCarthy of Eureka, Calif.; brothers, Bob Chamberlain
of White Salmon and Fred Chamberlain of Washougal.
