CAMERON
Mrs. Elma E. Cameron, 82, of Goldendale died Mon., July
8, 1991, in Goldendale. She was born Nov. 23, 1908, to August and Annie
(Hendrickson) Mattson at their farm home near Centerville. She attended
Centerville grade and high schools graduating in 1926, and also Ellensburg
Normal School. She then worked for 18 months for A.J. and Bess Niva in their
general store in Centerville.
On October 18, 1928 she and Hugh Cameron were married
in Goldendale. They farmed near Centerville earning many honors for their
farming practices. They also took an active interest in community and county
affairs.
Mrs. Cameron moved into Goldendale where she lived for
the past four years after the death (in March of 1987) of Hugh, her husband
of 58 years.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a life
member of Klickitat County Historical Society where she often hosted museum
patrons in her middle years, the County Homemakers Club and a Charter Member
of the Klickitat County Cowbells, a 58-year member of the Centerville Grange
No. 81 and the Pomona, State and National Granges, and 34-year member of
Goldendale Federated Women's Club.
Mrs. Cameron was an avid reader and enjoyed ceramics.
She was a kind and loving wife and mother and enjoyed her grandchildren and
great-grand children.
Besides her husband, Hugh, she was preceded in death
by one sister, Stella Felz.
Survivors include two sons and two daughters-in-law,
Bruce and Kay Cameron and Dale and Betty Cameron of Centerville; grand-children,
Kristen Tuttle of East Wenatchee, Brent Cameron of Walla Walla, Brad, Dan
and Cheryl of Centerville and David of Goldendale; and seven great-grand
children.
Mass of Christian Burial was said on Thurs., July 11 in Holy
Trinity Catholic Church with Fathers Thomas V. Lane and Seamus Kerr as
celebrants. Interment was in the Centerville Cemetery under the direction
of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers included Anthony Sarsfield, Dennis Jaekel,
Terry Linden, Marion Campbell, Jim Miller and Mike Woods. Memorial contributions
may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
