ELWIN F. OLSON
Former Bingen City Council member Elwin F. Olson died Sunday, Jan.
28, at Skyline Hospital. He was 81.
Mr. Olson was born Aug. 6, 1908, in Husum to Ella (Huff) and William
Olson. He was raised in the area. June 28, 1974, he married his wife,
Virginia. He worked for SDS Lumber Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1976.
Mr. Olson was a member of the Bingen City Council for 21 years and was
a former member of the Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed to garden and enjoyed the
outdoors, especially wildflowers.
He is survived by wife Virginia of Bingen; step-daughters Karen Heirty
of Aurora, Colo., and Brenda Keele of Bakersfield, Calif.; brothers Luther
Olson of Husum, Hugh Olson of Gresham, Ore., and Carl Olson of Wapato;
sister Clara Daugherty of Coeur D'Alene, Idaho; two step-grandchildren; four
great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Jan. 31, with burial at Lyle
Balch Cemetery. Donations in Mr. Olson's name may be given to the American
Cancer Society.
