ETHEL BAKER
Ethel G. Baker, a longtime Lyle area resident, died April
2 at the Hood River Care Center, at the age of 95.
Mrs. Baker was born Sept. 10, 1889, in Little Falls,
Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. John Pearson. She married Olaf Baker Dec. 22, 1914.
He preceded her in death September 1964.
The couple homesteaded in Montana where Mrs. Baker was
a teacher for a time. They moved to the Lyle area in 1922 where they raised
a family their family. She loved to garden and always had fresh flowers no
matter where she was.
She was member of the Lyle United Methodist Church, the
Order of Eastern Star, the Columbia Grange and the Lyle Women's Club.
Mrs. Baker is survived by her children, Carol Baker and
Fern Lewis, both of Hood River, and Myrtle Adkisson, Salem, Ore.; four
grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral
Home in White Salmon, with the Rev. Carol Davies officiating. Interment was
in Balch Cemetery, Lyle.
