ELIZABETH GARNER BROWER
Elizabeth "Liz" Garner Brower, 79, a resident of The
Dalles, died at her home on Sunday, May 28, 2000.
She was bornDec.12, 1920, in The Dalles, the fourth of
six children to Frank and Mary Jane (Hollingsworth) Garner. She grew up in
Centerville, Wash., graduating from high school there in 1938. She completed
her bachelor's of art degree at Central Washington University in 1941.
She married Robert William M. Brower on Feb. 9, 1945
in San Jose, Calif.
She taught elementary school for 44 years, 38 of those
years at The Dalles Joseph G. Wilson and Dry Hollow Schools. She retired
from teaching in 1988.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Retired
Teachers Association. She enjoyed reading, music and her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky Matherly and her
husband, Marty, and their children, Lindsey and Molly, all of The Dalles;
her siblings, Henry and William Garner of Goldendale and Janice Creason of
Seattle, and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother,
Leo and sister, Gayle.
Viewing visitation will be held at Spencer, Libby &
Powell Funeral Home on Thursday, June 1, from 2 to 7 p.m. and from 8 a.m.
through services on Friday. Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June
2 at Spencer, Libby & Powell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Karl Vercourteren
officiating. Interment will follow at Centerville Cemetery.
