ELLEN CLARK
Ellen Clark died May 31, 2000, in White Salmon, where
she had been a resident for 58 years.
She was born to Frank and Cathrine (Riley) Beer in Elgin,
Neb., on April 25, 1903. After high school, she attended teachers college
until an accident prevented her from continuing. She met and married Ervin
E. Clark. The couple moved to Oak Ridge Rd. in 1941, where they bought a
farm and Mrs. Clark raised five children and 87 foster children.
Mrs. Clark loved quilting, sewing, gardening and her
ranch. She adored children and enjoyed volunteering. She was voted Mother
of the Year and was publicly recognized by the community for her volunteer
work. Mrs. Clark was a member of the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in White
Salmon.
Mrs. Clark is survived by three sons David M. Clark,
BZ Corner, Ben Clark, White Salmon, and Ernest Clark, The Dalles; two daughters
Laura Nolen, Great Falls, Mont., and Bonnie Rapelje, Murdock; sister Marie
Lema, Ferndale, Calif.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Clark was preceded in death by her husband Ervin, son Paul Valery Clark,
three sisters and one brother.
A memorial service for Mrs. Clark was held on Wednesday,
June 7, 2000, at 11 a.m. at the White Salmon Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home.
