"Glenwood News"
Again has the shadow of death hovered over our little town and all hearts have been filled with sorrow and sympathy. On Nov. 11, at Portland, Ore., occurred the death of Edwin P. Huffsmith, after an illness of several months. Mr. Huffsmith was born at Broodheadsville, Monroe county, Pennsylvania, March 8, 1877. He came to Glenwood in 1903 and engaged in the lumber business which he conducted with great success until last spring when he sold his mill to the Glenwood Lumber Co., because of ill health. Those left to mourn their loss are a wife, six children, father, mother, three sisters and one brother. The little Presbyterian church was crowded with friends of Mr. Huffsmith and his family, when Rev. Grant Merchant, the pastor, conducted the funeral services, and many followed the remains to the Grange cemetery where they were lovingly laid to rest.

OBITUARY
Though the many friends of Edwin P. Huffsmith had known
for months of his serious illness, the community, nevertheless, felt a shock
of sorrow when news of his death in Portland, Ore., came of the afternoon
of Nov. 11th.
Mr. Huffsmith was born at Broodheadsville, Monroe county,
Pennsylvania, Mar. 8, 1877, being 47 years, 8 months and 3 days old at the
time of his death. Those who loved him best and remain to mourn for him are
a wife, six children, father, mother, three sisters and one brother.
The deceased came to Glenwood in 1903 and started in
the sawmill business. He was one of the most successful of those engaging
in this business in Klickitat County, and only last spring sold out to the
Glenwood Lumber Co., because of ill health. He had the reputation of
manufacturing the highest grade of lumber, and never experienced any disastrous
hinderance, such as fire, or other loss.
Mr. Huffsmith took a deep interest in his family and
desired to see his children receive every advantage possible in an intellectual
and spiritual way. The writer has heard him express his admiration for teachers
and others who stood for the high things in the community.
The funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church,
the sermon being delivered by the pastor, Rev. Grant Merchant. Beautiful
floral gifts were placed around the remains, which found their last resting
place in the Grange cemetery at this place.
