ELOISE DANIELS
Glenwood resident Eloise Irene Daniels died at her home
on Aug. 24, 2005, at the age of 74. She was born to Waldo and Frances (Weed)
Smalley in Parma, Idaho on Oct. 23, 1930.
Mrs. Daniels was raised in Idaho, graduating from Parma
High School and then going on to attend college at The College of Idaho in
Caldwell. Upon her graduation from college, she married Douglas Stuart Daniels
on June 20, 1954 in her hometown of Parma. Prior to their move to Glenwood,
the couple spent five years living in Coos Bay, Ore., where they had many
fond memories and developed special longtime friendships. They moved to Glenwood
the winter of 1965 when Mr. Daniels, a forester for the Department of Natural
Resources, received a job transfer. Mrs. Daniels spent the next several years
dedicating herself to raising her family. Once her children were school-age,
she began working for the Glenwood School District, where she was employed
until her retirement in 1996.
Always willing to help, Mrs. Daniels gave herself to
the community of Glenwood, volunteering at local dinner benefits, P.S.E.
fundraisers, and keeping active in the Pioneer Memorial
Community Church. Mrs. Daniels enjoyed spending time
with her family and had a special talent for creating wonderful baked breads
and pies. She will be long remembered for her cinnamon rolls and blueberry
pies. During her retirement years, she and Mr. Daniels were able to enjoy
many travels, several with close friends, to such places as Arizona, Alaska,
Florida, Branson and a special trip to the New England states to view the
fall colors.
Mrs. Daniels is survived by her husband Douglas, at home
in Glenwood; three children, daughter Kimberley, Goldendale, son Alan Daniels,
Vancouver, and daughter Hillary Daniels, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and five
grandchildren. Preceding Mrs. Daniels in death are her parents and brothers
Dean and Robert Smalley.
