ELIZABETH IRENE VANDEVANTER
Elizabeth Irene VandeVenter was born October 29, 1884,
at Medical Springs, Union county, Oregon. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Briggs.
She passed away February 7th at the Hood River hospital. She married Wayne
VandeVanter at Union, Oregon, in 1902. To this union were born three daughters
and two sons, Mrs. Letha Staack of White Salmon, Mrs. Edna Kent of Los Angeles,
California, Lucile, who died in infancy, Erhman and Garth, both of White
Salmon. There are three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She also leaves two sisters and a half brother, Mrs.
Georgia Hiller of Bingen, Mrs. Rosa Locher of Spokane and Edison Spears of
Union, Oregon.
The VandeVanter's lived the greater part of their lives
in Union county, Oregon, at Medical Springs, Union and North Powder, during
which time they were engaged in farming and in the lumber business.
In 1929 they moved to Goldendale where they operated
a sawmill until 1937, when they moved to White Salmon, where they have since
resided.
Services were held for the Gardner Funeral Home in White
Salmon and interment was made in the White Salmon cemetery.
