EDGAR J. BOYER
Former Mid-Columbia resident Edgar J. Boyer, Sr., of
Salem, Oregon, died there Sunday, October 29. He was 85.
Mr. Boyer was born June 12, 1904, in Nooksack, Wash.,
to Lucy (Scofield) and David E. Boyer. The family moved to the Mid-Columbia
area when he was an infant. He married Elsie Collins in 1928 and was a carpenter
and logger in the area for several years. The couple moved to Salem in March,
1988. Elsie Boyer died in December that year.
Mr. Boyer was a member of the Grace Baptist Church. He
served as president of the local chapter of the American Association of Retired
Persons.
He is survived by children Laura Smith of Salem, Jim
Boyer of Spanaway, and Marvin Boyer of Davison, Michigan. He was preceded
in death by daughter Mary Ziegler.
Services were held Wednesday, November 1, at Gardner
Funeral Home. Rev. Robert Long was pastor. Committal was at Chris Zada Cemetery,
Underwood.
