E.J. GROSHONG VICTIM OF FALLING TREE
In a logging accident Monday about 3 miles NW of the
Hollenbeck mill, Eugene J. "Gene" Groshong was killed when struck by a section
of a tree felled by George Woodruff for whom he was working.
The accident occurred at about 3:30 p.m. The tree felled
by Woodruff was reported to have hit a cottonwood, the tree broke into sections
and a part hit Groshong on the head as he was trying to run away from it.
He is survived by two daughters, Sonja Marie and Anita
Hazel living in Kennewick with their mother. The couple was divorced. He
is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Metcalf of Riddle, Oregon; two
sisters, Mrs. Hazel Bradford of Portland; Mrs. Grace Kindred of Cave Junction,
Oregon and two brothers; Ira of Greenfield, Calif.; and Claud of Lebanon,
Oregon.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, August 27 at Gardner's
Funeral Home in White Salmon at 11 a.m. with burial in Trout Lake.

SERVICES HELD
Funeral services were held Saturday for Eugene Groshong. He grew up in the Troutlake Valley and was buried in the cemetery at Troutlake where his father and a younger brother rest. His death was a shock to the community.

Funeral services were held Saturday from Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon for Eugene Groshong, who was killed in a logging accident. Gene grew up in the Troutlake community and was buried in the local cemetery where his father and another brother rest.
