EMILY THUN WAS ALMOST SIXTY YEAR RESIDENT
Emily Josephine Thun, 79 a resident of Underwood, Washington
since 1909, died at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland Sunday Sept. 17.
She was born May 20, 1888 in Over-Johnsdorf, Austria-Hungary
to Anna and Johann Janisch.
At Tacoma, Wash. on October 25, 1909 she was united in
marriage to Louis Thun and they settled at Underwood, Wash. that year. Mr.
Thun died July 16, 1960.
Mrs. Thun was a member of Goodwill Rebecca Lodge No.
163 and Mt. View Grange, both in White Salmon.
Surviving are four daughters: Helen Hartness of Portland,
Martha Lehmann of Underwood; Lucille Teller of Seattle and Dorothy Nixon
of Federal Way, near Seattle.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Sept. 20 at 10:30
a.m. at Gardner's Funeral Home with Father Joseph Ibach of Goldendale
officiating. Recitation of the Rosary by Father Moore of Hood River was Tuesday
evening, 8 p.m. at Gardner's Chapel. Interment was in Chris-Zada Cemetery
at Underwood.
Casket bearers were Verne Newall, Paul Newell, Fred Frazer,
Jr., Olaf Larsen, Clarence Randall and Sam Dallas.

Emily Josephine Thun, a resident of Underwood since 1909,
passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland Sunday Sept. 17.
