FOUR GENERATIONS MOURN MATRIARCH

     Elizabeth Sweighoefer Ladiges, 82, was born June 26, 1885, at Jeritten in East Prussia. At the age of 14 Elizabeth moved to Stalluopoen, and later to Essen, Rineland, Germany. In 1906, at the age of 21, Elizabeth came to the United States of America to become the bride of Max Ladiges of Glenwood, Wash.
     To this union were born seven children: Charlotte (Lottie) Eagleton, Elizabeth (Ellie) Gribner, and Lucille Bolt of Portland, Oregon; also Walter Ladiges, Max Ladiges Jr. and Paul Ladiges of Glenwood, Washington.
     Elizabeth Ladiges was a past member of the Glenwood Grange and a member of the Camas Prairie and Vicinity Pioneer Association at Glenwood, Wash. where she lived most of her life on the ranch that was, in part, the homestead of her husband's parents. The last few years, she has been in Portland, Ore., staying in the homes of her daughters until the last month, when she has been hospitalized in the Portland Sanitarium, where she died the morning of November 15, at the age of 82.
     Elizabeth was preceded in death by an infant son, William Kurt, and on November 2 of last year, her husband, Max Ladiges.
     She leaves four generations to mourn her loss; six children, 14 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; also many relatives and a host of friends.
     Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 18, at 1 p.m. in Glenwood Pioneer Memorial church. Rev. Albert G. Edwards of Portland officiated. Burial was in Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood. Casket bearers were Allen McKenney, Howard Murray, Jr., Errol Andrew, Gary Harter, Perry Harter and Harry Dechand. Honorary bearers were George Wellenbrock, Frank Lyle, Osmer Kuhnhausen, Geo. Lyle, Ollie Kreps and Herman Kuhnhausen.
     Out of town relatives and friends present were Mr. and Mrs. Allan McKenney, Yakima; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Eagleton, Union City, Calif.; Mrs. Larry Kelley, Castroville, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Harter and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kaufman, Beaverton, Ore.; Mrs. Lottie Sellinger and Mrs. Katie Grant, Vancouver.
     Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Harvey, Olive Sweerie, Maude Westrom, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Rickman, Mr. and Mrs. A. Knudson, Mrs. Twyla Krall, Ernie Gribner, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Gribner, Mrs. Lionel Krall, Mr. and Mrs. L.R. Eagleton, Mrs. Lucille Bolt, Wayne Bolt and Miss Sheryl Wiles, all from Portland, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Markgraf, Madras, Ore.; W.A. Martzall, Rowena, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Ladiges and Mrs. Lloyd J. ELIZ. LADIGES PASSES IN PORTLAND, ORE.

     Elizabeth Ladiges, longtime resident of Glenwood, Wash., passed away at Portland Sanitarium in Portland, Oregon early Wednesday morning of this week.
     Her husband, Max Ladiges, preceded her in death on Nov. 2, 1966.
     Surviving relatives include 3 daughters, Mrs. Gus Gribner of Portland, Mrs. Lucille Bolt of Portland, and Mrs. Charlotte (Lottie) Eagleton; and 3 sons, Walter Ladiges, Max Ladiges and Paul Ladiges, all of Glenwood, Washington.
     Services will be held on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 18, at 1 o'clock in the Pioneer Memorial Community Church at Glenwood. Rev. Albert G. Edwards of Portland will officiate and burial will be at the Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.
