DEATH SUMMONS EDNA MARKGRAF
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March,
24, at the Church of the Nazarene, Stevenson, for Mrs. William (Edna Laura)
Markgraf, 69, Stevenson.
Gardners Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
The Rev. J.E. McConnell will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Adams Cemetery,
Glenwood, at 2 p.m.
Bearers will be: (active) Glen, Peter, Carl and Jack
Markgraf, Robert Akerill and David Dapkus; (honorary) Monte Markgraf, Vere
and William Guthrie, Donald and James Warner, and Gay Margado.
Mrs. Markgraf was born May 17, 1891 in West Virginia
and came to Glenwood valley in 1909 where she and her late husband, William,
were married in April 6 of that same year. Mr. Markgraf died on Sept. 29,
1957.
The Markgrafs lived in California from 1910 to 1919 when
they returned to Glenwood where they made their home until they moved to
Stevenson in 1942.
Mrs. Markgraf died early Tuesday morning, March 21 at
Skyline hospital, White Salmon.
She is survived by two sons, William of Madras, Oregon
and Albert of Redmond, Ore.; four daughters Virginia Dapkus and Elizabeth
Guthrie of Stevenson, Ruth Akerill of Glenwood and Edith Warner of White
Salmon; 16 grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Also, two sisters, Milly Murray of White Salmon and Hattie
Markgraf of North Bonneville; and two brothers, Ben Hylton of Medford, Oregon
and Dan Hylton of Troutville, Virginia.

SERVICES TO BE FRIDAY FOR MRS. MARKGRAF
Edna Laura Markgraf, resident of Stevenson, Washington
since 1942 passed away at Skyline Hospital on March 21st. She was born May
17th 1891 in West Virginia, the daughter of Louisa and Hiram Hylton. In 1909
she moved from West Virginia to the Glenwood Valley where she was united
in marriage on April 6th of that year to William Markgraf. From 1910 to 1919
they made their home in California and then returned to Glenwood. William
Markgraf passed away in 1957. She leaves two sons, William
of Madras, Oregon and Albert of Redmond, Oregon; four daughters: Virginia
Dapkus of Stevenson, Wash.; Ruth Akerill of Glenwood, Wash., Edith Warner
of B.Z. Corners and Elizabeth Guthrie of Stevenson, Wash.; two sisters, Millie
Murray of White Salmon and Hattie Markgraf of North Bonneville, Wash.; two
brothers: Ben Hylton of Medford, Ore. and Dan Hylton of Troutville, Virginia.
Also 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 24th, 10 a.m.
at the Stevenson Church with Rev. J.E. McCollum officiating. Graveside services
will be at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood at 2 p.m. in the afternoon.

RITES TODAY FOR MRS. MARKGRAF
Funeral services will be held Friday, March, 24 (today)
at the Stevenson Church of the Nazarene for Mrs. Edna Laura Hylton Markgraf,
who passed away in the Skyline Hospital March 20 after a lingering illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m.
The Rev. James E. McConnell will officiate, with interment
in the Glenwood Cemetery where Mrs. Markgraf's husband, the late Will E.
Markgraf is buried.
Laura Edna Hylton was born May 17, 1891 in Bluefield,
West Virginia, and was married to Mr. Markgraf in Glenwood, Wash., April
6, 1909, shortly after she came west.
Nine children were born to this union, of whom three
preceded her in death. She and her husband lived in Biggs, California, until
1919 when they moved back to Glenwood where they lived and raised their family.
In December, 1942, they moved to Stevenson. She was a
member of the Stevenson Grange for several years and also a member of the
Stevenson Church of the Nazarene.
She leaves to mourn her passing two sons, Albert of Redmond,
Oregon, and William of Madras, Oregon; four daughters Mrs. August Dapkus
and Mrs. Vance Guthrie of Stevenson, Mrs. Merle Akerill of Glenwood and Mrs.
Albert Warner of White Salmon; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Also, two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Markgraf of North Bonneville
and Mrs. Mille Murray of White Salmon; and two brothers, A.B. Hylton of Medford,
Oregon; and D.W. Hylton of Troutville, Virginia.
