PASSING OF MANY LONG TIME RESIDENTS
Elizabeth McKenna Willis, wife of Mayor R.J. Willis,
died Sunday morning, August 10, 1930.
The funeral services were held from Holy Trinity Catholic
Church, Goldendale, on Wednesday, August 13th, Rev. Father T.A. Edwards,
officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery.
She was born in Miles City, Montana. Her girlhood and
early womanhood were passed in Juneau, Alaska, where she was a postmistress
for a number of years.
She graduated from the Academy at Victoria, British Columbia.
In 1903, she was married to Mr. Willis, and in 1906 they
came to Goldendale where she helped mold the life of the community in her
duties as mother, president of the Woman's Association, president of the
Parent-Teachers' Association and worker in the Catholic church.
She also is survived by two children, Robert and Katherine,
and to step children, Lillian Willis and Mrs. Hazel Berek of Portland. Her
youngest son, James, was drowned in the Columbia river on June 6, 1930.
