ETHELDA AHOLA
Mrs. Ethelda M. Ahola, who was born just two years after
the final shots in the Civil War were fired, died in Vancouver Monday at
the age of 101.
Mrs. Ahola, of Rt. 2, Box 568, Washougal, had been a
resident of the Camas-Washougal area since 1931. She was born May 16, 1867,
in LaSalle County, Illinois.
She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Goldendale.
She is survived by two sons, Harold of Fairbanks, Alaska,
and Burton of Carmichael, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Tidland of
Washougal, Mrs. Mayble Esteb of Tacoma, Mrs. Mary Hazard of Bremerton, and
Mrs. Alda Strong ,Reading Center, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, 18
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at
Swank Memorial Chapel in Camas with the Rev. George Jefferson officiating.
Vault interment will be in Centerville Cemetery, Centerville, Wash.
Mrs. Ahola will lie in state at the funeral home until
10:45 a.m. Thursday.

ETHELDA AHOLA
Ethelda Ahola was born in LaSalle County, Il. on May 16, 1867
to William and Mary Miller, and died in Vancouver, Wa. on Monday August 26,
1968. In her early childhood she came west with her parents and lived in
this area till she married Pete Ahola and moved to Centerville. She was the
postmaster for several years while her husband owned and operated a hardware
store. After his death, she moved to the Camas-Washougal area where she spent
the remainder of her 101 years.
She had been a member of Leah Rebekah Lodge at Goldendale.
Surviving are two sons, Harold, Fairbanks, Ak. and Burton,
Carmichael, Ca.; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Tidland of Washougal, Mrs. Mayble
Esteb, Tacoma; Mrs. Mary Hazard, Bremerton; and Mrs. Alda Strong, Reading
Center, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great
grandchild.
Services were held Thursday at Swank Memorial Chapel
in Camas with graveside services, under the direction of Leah Rebekah Lodge,
in Centerville Cemetery.
