ELVA BAKER

     Elva Baker, a White Salmon native, died in Mosier, Ore. on Sept. 13, 1999, at the age of 81.
     Mrs. Baker was born on July 17, 1918, in White Salmon, to Frank A. and Hazel M. (Sturtevant) Schwinge. She was raised in Underwood and attended schools in White Salmon. She married George Baker around 1942 and then moved to Longview, where they bought a house and raised livestock. The couple moved back to Underwood in the late 1940s and opened an Automotive and Industrial Supply store in Bingen.
     Mrs. Baker loved flowers, gardening and animals.
     Mrs. Baker is survived by her daughter Bonnie Huett, Carson; sister of Bessie Olson, Husum; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Bea Holmes and a brother Amel Schwinge.
     Graveside services for Mrs. Baker were held Friday, Sept. 17, 1999, at 11 a.m. at Chris Zada Cemetery, with Derek Krentz officiating.
     Memorials may be given to PROD.
     Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home of White Salmon.
