MRS. EDNA BASSE RITES HELD HER SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Funeral rites were conducted Sunday afternoon at the
Phillips Chapel for Mrs. Edna M. Basse, 51, of Centerville who died suddenly
June 10 at her home. The Rev. J.A. Dunn of Centerville Church of Christ
officiated, and interment was made in the Centerville Grange Cemetery.
Mrs. Basse (Edna Mae Stewart) was born November 14, 1902 at
Edwardsville, Oklahoma, the daughter of William J. and Susan K. Stewart.
She grew to womanhood at Eugene, Oregon. On June 10, 1927, she was wed to
Elmer Basse at Goldendale, and since spent most of her life at their Centerville
farm.
She taught school at Centerville for seven years on two
separate occasions. She was a member of the First Methodist Church, Eugene,
Oregon; a graduate of the University of Oregon; a member of Centerville Grange;
the Neighbors of Woodcraft and the PEO Sisterhood.
Two infant sons preceded her in death. Her survivors
include her husband Elmer; a son of Stewart, of Seattle; two grand-daughters;
four sisters; one brother, and a number of nieces and nephews as well as
a host of friends.
