EMELINE BEEKS

Emeline Willson was born in Noble county, Ohio, March 24, 1849. In early womanhood she was married to Oliver Rees. No children were born to this union, but she gave a mother's love to her husband's seven orphans. Mr. Rees was a deacon in the Church of Christ. He died in 1872.
On April 6, 1873, Mrs. Rees was married to William W. Beeks in Missouri, and the next year they moved to Oregon. After living two years in Oregon, they moved to Klickitat county, Washington, where they spent the remainder of their lives. Two daughters blessed this union; Minnie M., who died of March, 1900, and Eva E. Beeks Radcliff of Pleasant Valley. Mr. Beeks preceded his daughter to the spirit world by five years. Since the death of her daughter, Mrs. Beeks made her home with her daughter, Mrs. E.I. Radcliff. She obeyed the gospel in early life and for forty-four years she served her master in Pleasant Valley. In November, 1918, she suffered a paralytic stroke from which confined her to her home. She was able to be around the home and still did all in her power to keep from being a burden to others. During the last two weeks she grew steadily worse and on Sunday afternoon, April 25, she passed peacefully to the spirit world.
The funeral was held from the home April 27th, with interment in the Pleasant Valley cemetery. Services were conducted by Evangelist H.G. Cassell. The relatives from a distance were Joseph E. Beeks, a step-son, and his two sons, George and Bert, and Levi Beeks, a brother-in-law, all of Wapato, Washington.
