Mrs. Edith M. Horne, 93, of Goldendale passed away on
Friday, Nov. 28 in Portland. She was born on March 20, 1893 in the Spring
Creek Area to Bates & Emma Hunter. She attended Spring Creek School and
married Roy Coffield in 1919 in Goldendale. They lived in Wishram, where
Edith worked at the Railroad Restaurant. Edith & Clifford Horne were
married in 1938 and continued to live in Wishram. Edith was known to have
fed many travelers at her restaurant during the Depression. She enjoyed gardening
and Handicrafts.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. David (Rose) Swanson
of Portland and one son, Bates Coffield of Spokane. Nine grandchildren and
10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral
services were held Tuesday, Dec. 2 at the chapel of the Knosher-Erdman Funeral
Home, with Pastor Skip Mitchell of the First Baptist Church officiating.
Burial was in the Spring Creek Cemetery.
